Dominique Fils-Aimé places the history of African-American musical culture at the heart of her work, reflecting on the social realities that have influenced the genres of blues, jazz, and soul, inspired by soul icons such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Etta James.
The singer-songwriter recently earned her second JUNO Award in 2024 for “Vocal Jazz Album of the Year” with her latest album, Our Roots Run Deep, for which she also won the 2024 Felix Award. She received her first JUNO Award in the same category in 2020 for her album Stay Tuned!
