This summer female comedians from all over the country will compete in the Ladies of Laughter Annual Competition. Contestants chosen to compete will be judged on audience response – that’s you! – as well as originality, material and delivery by a panel of producers, press and industry judges at four preliminary events taking place in New York City, New Jersey, Long Island and right here in Westchester at the Emelin Theatre.
The winners from each event advance to the Grand Finale on Aug. 14th at Rodney’s Comedy Club before a blue-ribbon panel of judges where they again will compete for the grand prizes worth over $10,000 in theater bookings with the Ladies of Laughter Funny & Fabulous tour at theaters across America.
For the past 25 years, the Ladies of Laughter series has awarded comedy bookings, cash, major publicity and the coveted Ladies of Laughter titles to aspiring women in comedy and has been a major driving force behind women getting to the next level in their comedy careers. Past contestants include a literal Who’s Who of today’s successful women in comedy, including Amy Schumer, Melissa Rauch (“Big Bang Theory”), Michelle Buteau, Jessica Kirson, Rachel Feinstein, Laurie Kilmartin (Conan) and countless others.

Ophira Eisenberg
The Canadian-born standup comedian, writer and host can be seen live, regularly headlining across the United States, Canada, and Europe delivering her unique blend of standup and storytelling to a loyal fan base of smart, irreverent comedy lovers. Eisenberg has appeared at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival, The New Yorker Festival, The New York Comedy Festival, Moontower Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot, The Nantucket Film Festival, Women in Comedy Festival and more. Television appearances include Comedy Central, This Week at The Comedy Cellar, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, HBO’s Girls, Gotham Live, The Late Late Show, The Today Show, and VH-1. A regular host and teller with NPR’s The Moth, Eisenberg also hosted NPR’s comedy trivia show Ask Me Another for nine years, where she interviewed and played silly games with hundreds of celebrities including Sir Patrick Stewart, Awkwafina, Yo-Yo Ma, Chelsea Handler, Jim Gaffigan, Michael C. Hall, and so many others.
