    Quick Tips

How long do i have to watch the film?

You can start watching the film between Wednesday at 7:30pm and Friday 7:30pm the week of the film release.

Once you strat watching the film, you have 48 hours to complete the film

If you begin the film Friday afternoon, you will have until Sunday morning to finish watching the film.

The Q&A will be made available for viewing after the film window ends.

    Can I Use Screen Mirroring?

No. Due to content protection restrictions, the Screen Mirroring feature on Smart TVs and other devices CANNOT be used.

Why was I unable to stream the film using AirPlay?

    1. It must be AirPlay 2.
    2. If you are trying to use the Screen Mirroring feature, content protection restrictions will prohibit you from doing so.
    3. To use Airplay from an iOS phone to an Apple TV, please follow these instructions:
First: make sure your Apple TV and phone are connected to the same Wifi
Second: make sure screen mirroring is turned off
Third: Play the film on your phone and click the airplay icon in the video player window to connect with your Apple TV:

Do I need to do anything to transition from the film’s Introduction to the Film, or from the Film to the Interview?

The film automatically streams following the Programmer’s Introduction. The interview (when one is scheduled) will automatically stream after the film following the completion of the credits. There is no additional login, or password needed.

Can I rewind, or start the film again if needed?

Yes. You have complete access to start and stop the film while you are watching it.

    • To PAUSE the film CLICK the symbol with two vertical lines at the bottom left corner of the screen; CLICK the arrow symbol to PLAY or RESUME.

To REWIND or move FORWARD in the film, hover your cursor at the bottom of your screen to expose the ‘timeline’, click on the blue circle or ‘playhead’ and drag to the left to rewind, and to the right to fast forward, or all the way back to the beginning to restart the film.

What should I do if my connection ‘stalls’ or ‘drops’ during the film?

Streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent, or if you have several WIFI enabled devices connected simultaneously, you may experience problems during playback. Here are some options to improve buffering:

    • Try moving your streaming device closer to your router, if possible
    • Try connecting directly to your router via an ethernet cable.
    • Lower the ‘resolution’ on your screen
      • Click on the cog wheel in the lower right hand corner of your screen.
      • Click on “View Quality” and lower the resolution; film will play faster requiring less buffering.

How do I access subtitles/closed captioning?

Subtitles (when available for a film) can be accessed as follows:

    1. Click on the cog wheel in the lower right hand corner of your screen
    2. Click on “Enable Subtitles”
    3. Further customize by clicking on the desired “player type” option

Will we be able to ask any questions during the Q&A?

Not at this time. Interviews with special guests are:

    • Pre-recorded and therefore do not allow for an interactive Q&A.
    • Subject to guest availability for a given film.
    • Conducted by programmer Joe Neumaier exclusively for the Emelin Film Club.

    YOU’RE ALL SET

You will receive an email reminder just prior to each film. Log in by 7:25 pm for each screening, relax and enjoy a great film. A film cannot be screened before this time.
