A social activist with a fiercely independent intellect and disarming mastery of pop vernacular\, McKay has a reputation for being witty\, bright\, and gloriously inappropriate. Join us when she returns to the Emelin stage to deliver her signature blend of thought-provoking\, emotionally affecting –  fun – live performance. \n\nAmong Ms. McKay’s charms\, is the way she playfully mixes a “tragic noir vibe” with her “wicked sense of humor.” – Wall Street Journal \n\nMcKay has produced an array of wildly varying albums\, from Get Away From Me (“a tour de force” – NY Times)\, Normal as Blueberry Pie: a Tribute to Doris Day (“among the killer overhauls of American standards” – NY Times)\, My Weekly Reader\, music of the 60’s (..kicks serious butt…beautiful.” – PopMatters)\, Obligatory Villagers (“plays like the breathless first act of a musical decrying fascism” – SPIN)\, to Sister Orchid (“the most lonely romantic album imaginable.” – Minneapolis Star-Tribune). \n\n“A renegade songwriter with an ultra-flexible Great American Songbook sensibility\, McKay finds modern resonances everywhere.” – Rolling Stone \n\nAs versatile as she is talented\, McKay co-created and starred in the award-winning off-Broadway hit Old Hats\, earned an Ovation nomination for composing/performing in A Play is a Poem\, and won a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum on Broadway in The Threepenny Opera. The artist has performed onscreen in the films PS I Love You and Downtown Express\, on Late Night and radio. Her music was used in Rumor Has It\, Monster-in-Law\, PS I Love You\, Gasland\, Last Holiday\, and Private Life\, as well as such television hits as\, “Mad Men\,” “Boardwalk Empire\,” “Weeds\,” and more.  \nIn addition to writing three acclaimed musical biographies\, McKay’s writing has appeared in “The Onion\,” “Interview\,” and “The New York Times Book Review.” She is a recipient of PETA’s Humanitarian Award and the Humane Society’s Doris Day Music Award in recognition of her dedication to animal rights. \n\n“McKay comes on as a Harlem Holly Golightly\, a social activist with a disarming mastery of pop vernacular.” – Los Angeles Times \n\n\n“..ambitious\, intriguing\, and clever..” – Billboard \n\n\n“McKay must have been genetically engineered under an oyster shell in New Orleans’ Frenchman St.. a bizarre sense of busker authenticity… witty\, bright\, and gloriously inappropriate.” – Theatermania \n\n\n“…her performances are thought-provoking\, emotionally affecting\, and fun.. her sweet voice and innocent demeanor mask a singular ability to wield the catchiest popular music idioms of the last century in the service of a fiercely independent intellect.” – Renee Fleming \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $30 - $40 (plus applicable fees)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n“Matt Schofield is widely considered one of the best blues guitar players walking the planet…” – Kevin Klein\, medium.com

Since the release of her self-titled\, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album\, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known venues. Known for performances that convey deep emotion\, Vega’s distinctive\, “clear\, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) has been described as “a cool\, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post\, with NPR Music noting that she “has been making vital\, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career. \nBearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (The New York Times)\, Vega’s songs have tended to focus on city life\, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated\, her work is immediately recognizable—as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $57/$67/$77\n \n \n \n \n \n \n“Matt Schofield is widely considered one of the best blues guitar players walking the planet…” – Kevin Klein\, medium.com

Original members Mike Reilly (bass\, vocals) and John David Call (pedal steel) are joined by Donnie Clark (guitar\, vocals)\, Randy Harper (keyboards\, vocals) and Scott Thompson (drums\, vocals). \nNow in their fifth decade\, Pure Prairie League continues to lead the way for the new generation of Country/Rockers such as Keith Urban\, Nickel Creek\, Wilco\, Counting Crows and so many others that cite PPL as a major influence. As crisp and clean as spring water and as comfortable as a well-worn cowboy shirt\, Pure Prairie League still brings it all back home. \nAs one reviewer recently wrote: “PPL’s sound combines sweet memories with edgy\, contemporary muscle. Inspired by the brilliance of George Carlin\, the smooth jazz style of Franklyn Ajaye\, and the elegance of Rita Rudner\, Leighann has crafted her own unique brand of Thinking Cap Comedy. It’s no wonder she received the NYC Black Comedy Award for “The Most Thought Provoking Black Female Comic.” And for two consecutive years\, Leighann was Harlem Week’s official comedian. (The only other comedian in Harlem Week’s history to earn that distinction was Richard Pryor.) Leighann has performed around the world. A festival favorite\, she’s been featured in the Trinidad\, Montreal\, Winnipeg\, Halifax\, Boston\, Detroit and NYC Underground Comedy Festivals. just for them. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Marion Grodin\nFor the last decade\, Marion Grodin has been one of the hottest comics in the country. In the Stone Age\, the rivalry is set off by dinosaurs\, a turtle used as a Ouija board\, and a round of golf with stones. In ancient Rome\, the men display their brawn through a chariot race\, using dogs instead of horses. In contemporary times\, the Man finds himself overcome by modernity\, including a very fragile car. \n“…filled with such wonderful visual wit…[Keaton’s] eye for comedic detail remains unparalleled.” – From The Front Row \nThe film will be accompanied by an original musical score created by Kurt Coble\, performed live by Kurt Coble on violin and Donald Sossin on piano. \nThis event is in partnership with the Mamaroneck Library’s Centennial Movie Series.Adults will enjoy a complimentary flute of champagne to toast the start of the Series. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n“Matt Schofield is widely considered one of the best blues guitar players walking the planet…” – Kevin Klein\, medium.com
