SUMMARY:Peter Fogel's 'Til Death Do Us Part... You First!
DESCRIPTION:Peter Fogel’s\n‘Til Death Do Us Part… You First!\n \n \n \n \n \n Saturday\, June 17\, 2023 @ 8pm\n \n Purchase Tickets| $34 - $39 (plus applicable fees)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n“A powerhouse on stage…Fogel delivers his lines with gusto and heart…resulting in uproarious belly laughs.” – Broadway World \n\n\nDirected by Academy Award-nominee Chazz Palminteri\, ‘Til Death Do Us Part…You First! is a one man tour-de-force performance about the ups and downs of love and marriage. Combining fast-paced Catskills-style comedy with a grounded sense of pathos\, the 90 minute monologue written and performed by Peter Fogel chronicles the comedian’s personal journey to find acceptance. \nThe journey begins when Fogel receives a greeting card from Palminteri\, who agrees to direct the solo show on the condition that Fogel tells a truthful and honest story about his previous relationships. Throughout the evening\, Palminteri’s voice wafts on stage\, playing the part of the wise therapist\, forcing Fogel to revisit his past relationships and confront his flaws. Fogel has the audience roaring with laughter as he relates one bold and wacky anecdote after another\, about everyone from his relatives\, to his friends\, and his ex-lovers. \nPETER FOGELNo stranger to comedy\, Peter Fogel has worked on numerous projects for stage and screen\, including “Comedy Strip Live\,” “Comedy on the Road\,” “Married With Children\,” Unhappily Ever After\, Chicago Sons (with Jason Bateman)\, and Men Behaving Badly (Rob Schneider). Fogel is best known for starring in the national tour of Steve Solomon’s show My Mother’s Italian\, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy! \nCHAZZ PALMINTERIIn the tradition set forth in the 1970s by such icons as director Martin Scorsese and actors Robert De Niro\, Al Pacino\, John Cazale and Joe Pesci\, Bronx-born and raised Chazz Palminteri has brought grit\, muscle and an evocative realism to the sidewalks of his New York neighborhood\, in film. \nAfter two decades of performing Off Broadway and on television\, Palminteri wrote the powerful one-man stage commentary\, A Bronx Tale\, depicting his bruising childhood in great detail. Palminteri would go on to write the screenplay and act in the film that would mark Robert DeNiro’s directorial debut. Other important projects quickly fell Palminteri’s way. He received a well-deserved Oscar nomination the following year for his portrayal of a Runyonesque hit man in Woody Allen’s hilarious jazz-era comedy Bullets Over Broadway (1994). \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $34 - $39 (plus applicable fees)

With grace\, courage\, and soul\, Iris shares 13 anthems — love songs\, really — to and for our broken inner and outer worlds\, summoning various social justice warriors\, both past and present\, to deliver messages of optimism. \n\n“The revered 62-year-old singer-songwriter’s music has rarely felt so urgent.” – Rolling Stone \n\n\n“…the loosest and most urgent recording of her career\, and one of the most pointed and sustained political statements made by a musician working primarily in country.” – The New Yorker \n\n\nIris DeMent ” has found inspiration once again…’communicating something massive and important that everybody should hear’.” – The New York Times \n\n“DeMent has been making herself useful for 30 years now\,” (NY Times)\, beginning with her 1992 debut\, “Infamous Angel\,” which was recently named one of the “greatest country albums of all time” by Rolling Stone. A two-time GRAMMY nominee\, DeMent received the Americana Music Trailblazer Award in 2017. DeMent’s songs have been featured in film (True Grit) and television (“The Leftovers”) and recorded by numerous artists. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Special Guest: Ana Egge\nBrooklyn singer-songwriter Ana Egge burst onto the music scene in 1977\, with her debut album\, River Under the Road\, which All Music noted “signals the arrival of a unique songwriting perspective and moving new voice.” She was named “Best Singer Songwriter” and “Best Folk Artist” the following year at the Austin Music Awards. Since then her music has consistently earned critical acclaim; No Depression hailed her 2017 release\, “White Tiger\,” as “nothing less than a balm for the soul” and Folk Alley proclaimed that 2019’s “Is It the Kiss” brought “great\, honest songs to the collective consciousness.” Egge has recorded with Billy Strings\, Anais Mitchell and Iris DeMent and her songs have been recorded by other influential roots musicians. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $45\n \n \n \n \n \n \n“Matt Schofield is widely considered one of the best blues guitar players walking the planet…” – Kevin Klein\, medium.com

The trio features two prominent jazz artists from Magner’s home city of Philadelphia\, Jason Fraticelli on bass and Matt Scarano on drums. SPAGA has cultivated an approach to improvisation that blurs the line between jazz and “jam.” Come see SPAGA apply their jazz-forward approach to the iconic songbook of the Grateful Dead\, the first and most influential jam band of all time. \nA life-long fan of the Grateful Dead\, Magner first saw Jerry Garcia in ’89 at the age of 13\,  and attended nearly 50 Dead shows in the next six years. “I have never lost my passion for their music\,” Magner says of the legendary band. As a member of the Disco Biscuits\, Magner’s welcomed his musical heroes\, Grateful Dead drummer’s  Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart\, to join in live performances on multiple occasions.  \n\n“…bands like Phish and the Disco Biscuits… keep our spirit alive by taking what we created and doing their own thing with it…Music should never be stagnant.” – Bill Kreutzmann \n\nIn an interview with Live for Live Music\, Magner spoke about applying his jazz-forward approach to the Grateful Dead’s work. “There’s some reharmonization of the chords\, some new stylistic ways of playing the songs and\, of course\, [the challenge of] arranging them instrumentally and without a guitar” As for his own approach\, he says\, “I’ll listen to different eras when learning a song…I learn something from each of The Dead’s keyboard players…as much as I love their individual styles\, my playing is unique to me…when I play Grateful Dead\, I want to borrow from the past\, but sound like me.”  \nAbout the Artists \nPhiladelphia-based musician Aron Magner\, is best known as the keyboardist and founding member of The Disco Biscuits\, known for bringing improvisational\, electronic-based music to the music scene and\, increasingly\, to popular culture. Starting with classical piano\, Magner discovered jazz at 13. He is now going back to his roots\, organically fusing jazz with his unique style. Upright bassist\, composer\, and multi-instrumentalist\, Jason Fraticelli is at the center of the music scenes of Philadelphia and New York. A popular sideman and touring artist\, his own groundbreaking ensemble\, Fresh Cut Orchestra\, has been receiving rave reviews performing at such renowned venues as the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts\, and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington\, DC. Drummer\, composer\, and educator Matt Scarano has performed throughout the world\, sharing the stage with numerous world-class musicians and artists at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. He is currently performing and touring with numerous groups including Time for Three\, Son Step\, and his own original ensemble.  \n\n“[SPAGA] will be coming to a jazz club near you soon enough\, and when they do\, buy a ticket and make sure you’re in attendance.”  \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $32 - $37 (plus applicable fees)

A social activist with a fiercely independent intellect and disarming mastery of pop vernacular\, McKay has a reputation for being witty\, bright\, and gloriously inappropriate. Join us when she returns to the Emelin stage to deliver her signature blend of thought-provoking\, emotionally affecting –  fun – live performance. \n\nAmong Ms. McKay’s charms\, is the way she playfully mixes a “tragic noir vibe” with her “wicked sense of humor.” – Wall Street Journal \n\nMcKay has produced an array of wildly varying albums\, from Get Away From Me (“a tour de force” – NY Times)\, Normal as Blueberry Pie: a Tribute to Doris Day (“among the killer overhauls of American standards” – NY Times)\, My Weekly Reader\, music of the 60’s (..kicks serious butt…beautiful.” – PopMatters)\, Obligatory Villagers (“plays like the breathless first act of a musical decrying fascism” – SPIN)\, to Sister Orchid (“the most lonely romantic album imaginable.” – Minneapolis Star-Tribune). \n\n“A renegade songwriter with an ultra-flexible Great American Songbook sensibility\, McKay finds modern resonances everywhere.” – Rolling Stone \n\nAs versatile as she is talented\, McKay co-created and starred in the award-winning off-Broadway hit Old Hats\, earned an Ovation nomination for composing/performing in A Play is a Poem\, and won a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum on Broadway in The Threepenny Opera. Since the release of her self-titled\, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album\, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known venues. Known for performances that convey deep emotion\, Vega’s distinctive\, “clear\, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) has been described as “a cool\, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post\, with NPR Music noting that she “has been making vital\, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career. \nBearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (The New York Times)\, Vega’s songs have tended to focus on city life\, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated\, her work is immediately recognizable—as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Purchase Tickets | $57/$67/$77\n \n \n \n \n \n \n“Matt Schofield is widely considered one of the best blues guitar players walking the planet…” – Kevin Klein\, medium.com

An exclusive talkback withScreenwriter/Director Ben Epstein moderated by Melissa Pianko\, Executive Producer and Mamaroneck resident\, will immediately follow the film. \nSixteen-year-old Alex Fixel has always felt out of sync; with her affluent Portland parents\, with her private school peers\, and with herself. When Alex’s parents interrupt her impetuous attempt to seduce her high school English teacher\, they plan to ship her off to boarding school. Alex escapes her new boarding school and tracks down her father. Over the next week\, Alex and Karl’s fragile and volatile attempts at connection tenuously blossom into a sincere father-daughter bond… Until Alex discovers the devastating truth about her roots\, threatening to destroy both her old and new family. \n\n“Who Are You People is one of my favorite dramas of the year.
